About The Cook's College
Welcome to college! Here’s four years of freedom, fun, education, and a boatload of new responsibility. From freshmen to seniors, first years to fourth, as you navigate this chapter of your life, I’m sure you’re both excited and overwhelmed by the numerous changes coming your way. With all of the good that comes with independence, so does an abundance of responsibility. All of a sudden, no one is doing the laundry, vacuuming the carpet, or putting dinner on the table. Maybe I can help you out with that last one. Hi. I’m Lauren. As someone who loves to cook and bake, I still struggled to consistently provide meals for myself during the school year. Cooking for one person without letting the leftover ingredients from a single recipe go bad in the fridge or racking up a major tab on ready-made meals at the store can be tough. I wanted to start this blog as a hub for college students getting into the world of cooking who need some tips and recipes.
My Story
Hi! I'm Lauren, and I graduated from Indiana University in 2024. One of my biggest goals in college was to find the perfect balance of it all. I loved going to the gym, going out with my girlfriends, trying new clubs and hobbies, and making time for myself - all while staying on top of my school work. I knew that fueling my body with nutritious, but quick and budget-friendly meals was key. I've always loved cooking, but making meals for one on a budget in the 30 minutes between classes was a trick. Add trying to fuel your body with nutrients on top of that, and it can just feel like too much. Meal prep was the key. I turned some of my favorite recipes into easy, convenient meal preps, and I saw a real need for these ideas and methods to be shared with other busy college students. I'm now 23 living and teaching in England (so yes, these recipes are great for uni, too) and have carried many of these recipes with me as my weekly go-to's.
